Next year, a bridge over the Vitim River will be built in the Bodaibinsky district of the Irkutsk region. The regional authorities have chosen a contractor who will do it for 11.5 billion rubles. The initial cost of the contract was 12 billion rubles.
The bridge became a joint project of the regional government and the Polyus gold mining enterprise. The construction is necessary to create a reliable connection between the area and the "mainland" and to freely deliver the necessary technological equipment there.

The bridge will be 414 meters long and 13 meters wide. One of the spans of the bridge will be 147 in length. This feature will make it unique.
The bridge will be built on the road between the cities of Taksimo and Bodaibo. It will be the only structure that connects the hard-to-reach territory with the "mainland".
At the moment, you can cross Vitim by ferry in summer and on ice in winter. In autumn, during the ice break, the ferry is not launched, so it is impossible to deliver fuel tanks to Bodaibo, the Government of the Irkutsk region said.
