The city authorities intend to develop electric transport, as it is popular. According to the mayor, it is necessary, first of all, to eliminate debts to electricity suppliers, attract new employees to the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Ulianovskelectrotrans", upgrade rolling stock and track facilities, as well as ensure an increase in salaries for employees of the enterprise.
In 2025, it is planned to overhaul the rails on the streets of the Iron Division, Pushkarev, Rosa Luxemburg and in the area of the Machine tool construction site - Promyshlennaya - Moskovskoe Highway.

Last year, the crosspieces and switches were replaced in several places, the sleeper rails on some streets and the sleepers on the Moskovskoe Highway were updated. Also, to minimize the risk of contact network breakage during the passage of oversized vehicles on the Pushkarevsky Ring, it was raised by 40 centimeters. Also, 3,500 meters of tram tracks will be replaced this year.
In the near future, the issue of increasing the cost of electric transport will be considered. This is necessary to stabilize the work of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Ulianovskelectrotrans," the Ulyanovsk City Hall said.
